Description

Step into authentic homes of Łódź residents from the 19th to 20th century. Explore 5 relocated wooden houses filled with personal stories, memories, and everyday objects spanning 100 years of history.
Travel through time in the Łódź Park of Urban Culture, where five authentic wooden houses tell intimate stories of ordinary people who shaped this textile city. Your private licensed guide brings to life the award-winning exhibition "Łódź Microhistories. Human Microhistories"—winner of Best Exhibition at the Historical Event of the Year competition.

Begin in the 1895 home of Florentyna Bennich, widow of a weaver whose son became a great industrialist. See her modest kitchen, bedroom, and the weaving workshop left by her late husband. Examine authentic period furniture, kitchen utensils, and sewing equipment that reveal daily life in industrial Łódź.
Move into the interwar period, where three families—Polish Catholics, German Evangelicals, and Jewish residents—shared one building. Notice how different cultures coexisted, each apartment revealing distinct traditions through furnishings, colors, and decorative choices.

Experience post-WWII Poland through three contrasting apartments: a shoemaker's richly decorated home preparing for name-day celebrations, a socialist activist's austere room filled with communist literature and party portraits, and a war widow's modest dwelling lined with glass jars inherited from her pharmacist parents.

Journey into late-communist Poland where apartments burst with color and nostalgia. See the Christmas preparations of textile workers, a militiaman's card-playing setup with Hungarian radio and vodka, and a Russian teacher's apartment showcasing 1980s design—colorful wallpaper, Soviet electronics, and high-gloss furniture many Poles still recognize from childhood.

Your tour includes artisan workshops: Bolesław Liberski's authentic tailor shop and embroidery ateliers with working jacquard machines, revealing the craft skills that defined Łódź's identity.
