Led by a certified Puerto Rican guide, this small-group experience combines delicious local cuisine with the stories that shaped the island. As we walk through the colorful streets of Old San Juan, you’ll learn about the city’s colonial past and the Taíno, African, and Spanish influences behind Puerto Rican food.
Along the way, we’ll stop at locally owned establishments to taste classics like mofongo, arroz con habichuelas, tostones, alcapurrias or empanadillas, Puerto Rican coffee, and traditional sweets, paired with refreshing drinks like a piña colada, mojito, local beer, and a pitorro shot.
The highlight of the tour is a visit to La Perla, the colorful oceanfront neighborhood known worldwide as the filming location of Despacito. Here we’ll dine at a local restaurant with stunning Atlantic Ocean views, walk along La Perla’s famous malecón, and learn the story of this resilient community.
From La Perla you’ll also see Old San Juan from a completely different perspective, looking back at the historic city walls from the outside.

The meeting point is Plaza de la Catedral in Old San Juan, directly in front of the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista. Your guide will be waiting next to the large tree in the center of the plaza, wearing a gray shirt with the Bori Local Tours logo.
