This walking tour visits one of the most magnificent medieval fortresses in Europe today. You'll see the impressive stonework, evidence of previous conflicts, and how the castle was engineered.

As a qualified and experienced guide born locally and lived in Conwy for over 40 years, rest assured you'll have a wonderful time exploring this Medieval masterpiece. Move through the historic towers and uncover the details you’d likely miss on your own—from defensive walls to secret rooms for kings.
Firstly, we'll start looking at the importance of its location and construction. We'll then admire the robust fortifications constructed in order to keep the Welsh at bay- or so you would think! We'll also wander through the Inner and Outer wards, East and West Barbicans, as well as spending some time in the Chapel Tower.
You'll also hear about events that shaped its history since it was constructed. We'll look at how it relates to the town of Conwy, as well as who, over the years, has stayed in the castle. There'll be some little secrets along the way as well!
After our 90 minutes is over, I'll guide you onto the curtain wall walkways if you're happy to. You will be able to remain at the castle after the tour has finished, so you can explore its many passageways and towers at your leisure.

Meeting point is outside the castle entrance itself. Find your way to Vicarage Gardens Car Park (LL32 8LD). You'll see a stretch of the town walls, as well as the castle itself. Follow the walls to the left, and you'll come to the west facing wall of the castle. In front of the castle there are some railings which overlook a road which goes through an arch. You'll also see the castle entrance to the left. I'll will be at the railings to meet you, wearing my lanyard.
