Description

Enjoy all the flavor of Scotland through the Outlander series and some of its most important locations in the Firth of Forth.
We'll start at 190 High Street, on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Your first stop is Blackness Castle, "the ship that never sailed." A 15th-century fortress, it served as a port for Linlithgow and became one of the most advanced artillery fortifications of the time. It's well preserved today. Outlander fans will recognize Fort William in the exteriors or the scene where Jamie Fraser is almost whipped to death. Only the external visit is planned.

Then we'll visit Midhope Castle, or Lallybroch, the legendary home of Jamie Fraser. A 16th-century tower and a pilgrimage destination for fans eager to relive exciting moments. Ticket not included.

Then there's Linlithgow Palace, one of the main residences of Scottish monarchs between the 15th and 16th centuries. James V and Mary Stuart were born here. From 1603, it stopped being a royal residence, despite the French Renaissance-style renovations. In 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie visited it, and it was later burned by the troops of the Duke of Cumberland. Today, the palace stands majestically near a lake, surrounded by meadows and woods. In Outlander, it was Wentworth Prison.

Let's continue with the village of Doune and Doune Castle, one of the most popular attractions in the area. A medieval fortress and residence of the Duke of Albany, it hasn't changed much over time, making it ideal for movies and series like Monty Python, Game of Thrones, and Outlander. Ticket not included.

Next up is Culross, a 17th-century village on the north bank of the Firth of Forth. Narrow streets, well-kept cottages, and Culross Yellow Palace create a timeless atmosphere. Outlander fans will recognize Cranesmuir, the Prosecutor's House, and the palace gardens as Claire's garden. The views are spectacular.

Last stop, Falkland, a 16th-century village in Fife. Cobbled streets and colorful houses transport you to another era. Falkland Palace towers over the village with its Renaissance architecture and historic gardens. Outlander fans will recognize several exteriors. Strolling through Falkland and admiring the valley makes for a memorable visit.

Head back to Edinburgh after visiting some of Outlander's most iconic locations, including history, landscapes, and imagination.
