Description

Spend two nights on the Isle of Skye, go Nessie hunting on Loch Ness, and jump on a train journey following the route of the Hogwarts Express, travel across Glenfinnan Viaduct.
This three-day Isle of Skye adventure is a crowd favourite for good reason. It packs Scotland’s biggest highlights into a long weekend without feeling rushed. Travel through epic Highland landscapes, hear stories and music from your local guide, hunt for the legendary Loch Ness monster, and spend two nights on the magical Isle of Skye in colourful Portree. To top it off, you’ll ride the stunning West Highland Line train - famous for its appearance in the Harry Potter films.

Day 1:
Depart Edinburgh and cross the iconic Forth Bridge as urban life gives way to Highland scenery. After stories, history and music from your guide, enjoy a stop in the charming town of Dunkeld. Continue to the Commando Memorial for views towards Ben Nevis, then visit Loch Ness with time to explore Fort Augustus and grab lunch. Walk among ancient woodland at the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre before snapping photos at the picture-perfect Eilean Donan Castle. Cross the Skye Bridge and settle into Portree for the next two nights.

Day 2:
A full day of Skye’s wild beauty awaits. See dramatic sea cliffs and waterfalls at Kilt Rock, then head to the Old Man of Storr, with a walk if conditions allow. Visit Dunvegan Castle, ancestral home of the MacLeods (entry optional), before returning to Portree for a relaxed evening exploring the harbour, pubs and restaurants.

Day 3:
Rise early for a standout finale. Take the ferry to Mallaig and board the train* and take the world-famous West Highland Line, passing rugged coastline, mountains and crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct. Rejoin your guide in Fort William and continue through dramatic Glen Coe, with a comfort stop in Tyndrum. Pass Stirling and the Wallace Monument before returning to Edinburgh in the early evening.
