Description

Discover the ancient and mystical history of Britain on a guided day trip from London. Visit Stonehenge, explore the Avebury stone circle, and walk through the West Kennet Long Barrow.
Begin your journey outside Waterloo Station in London and head west, making a quick detour to Windsor Castle. Continue to Silbury Hill, a man-made structure older than the pyramids. Take a short walk to West Kennet Long Barrow, an ancient Neolithic burial mound. Walk through the stones, close your eyes, and breathe in the heavy atmosphere.

Next, drive to Avebury Stone Circle, where the village sits in the middle of the circle. Walk around the circle and among the stones. Visit the visitor center, then have lunch at the famously haunted Red Lion Pub.

After lunch, drive to the most famous stone circle of them all, Stonehenge. Visit the visitor center and walk around the stones. Learn about Woodhenge nearby and what the real ritual purpose was of these two sites and how they complement each other in the landscape. Finally, drive back to London and be dropped off at Waterloo Station.
