Description

Embark on a 2-day adventure from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. Trek through the forest to see mountain gorillas, explore Kigali, and experience Rwandan culture at the Gorilla Guardians Village.
Day 1: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Musanze

Begin your journey with pickup from your hotel or the airport in Kigali. Meet your professional guide and start with a short introduction to the city, known for its cleanliness, safety, and vibrant culture.

Your first stop is the moving Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you will gain deep insight into Rwanda’s history and remarkable journey of resilience and unity. This meaningful visit provides important context to the country you are about to explore.

Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Kigali (optional and not included), where you can taste authentic Rwandan cuisine or international dishes.

In the afternoon, unwind with a peaceful nature walk at Nyandungu Eco-Park, a beautifully restored eco-park offering scenic trails, birdlife, and a refreshing escape within the city.

Later, depart Kigali for a scenic drive to Musanze, the gateway to gorilla trekking. The journey (approximately 2.5 hours) takes you through Rwanda’s famous rolling hills and picturesque countryside.

Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax in preparation for the next day’s unforgettable adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience

Start your day early with breakfast before transferring to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a briefing from park rangers.

Begin your gorilla trekking experience, hiking through lush forest terrain in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can vary in duration depending on the location of the gorillas, but the reward is extraordinary.

Once you find them, spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants—watching them feed, play, and interact in their natural environment. This close encounter with mountain gorillas is truly a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience and one of Africa’s most sought-after adventures.

After descending from the forest, return for a well-deserved lunch at your lodge or a nearby restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Gorilla Guardians Village for an engaging cultural experience. Discover traditional Rwandan life through dance, music, storytelling, and local practices, offering a deeper connection to the community.

Finally, begin your return journey to Kigali or your next destination, arriving in the late afternoon or evening with unforgettable memories of your Rwanda gorilla trekking safari.
