Description

Explore Belgrade’s rich history on a guided walking tour. Visit key landmarks like Kalemegdan Fortress and Republic Square in just 100 minutes with a local expert.
Step back in time and discover 2,000 years of Belgrade’s rich and complex history on this immersive walking tour, led by a licensed local guide. In just 90–100 minutes, you’ll uncover the layers of civilizations that shaped the Serbian capital — from Roman foundations and medieval walls to Ottoman influence, Austro-Hungarian architecture, and the legacy of Yugoslavia.

We begin our journey at Maršala Birjuzova 14, near the popular Mikan Restaurant, where your guide will introduce you to the city’s story and set the stage for what lies ahead.

Walk to Republic Square, one of the most iconic and lively places in Belgrade, surrounded by the National Museum and National Theatre. Learn about the role this square played in Serbia’s cultural and political life.

From there, we enter the lush and historic Kalemegdan Park, a peaceful green space that sits atop the city’s ancient fortress. As we move through the Belgrade Fortress, your guide will reveal incredible stories tied to the Victor Monument — the city’s proud symbol of victory and resilience.

We'll visit the Monuments of Gratitude to France and Russia, stop at the spot where World War I began, and pass by sports fields where legendary clubs Partizan and Red Star were born.

Next, explore Serbian medieval ruins, military equipment from World Wars I and II, and the underground world of Roman wells and secret bunkers used during the Cold War — including Tito’s hidden bunker.

This tour also includes a stop near the Military Museum, where you’ll see how 2,000 years of history are literally built into the walls — with stones and bricks from different civilizations stacked one on top of another.

Catch a glimpse of Belgrade Zoo as we pass, then head toward the charming Kosancicev Venac, also known as “Belgrade’s Montmartre,” a cobblestoned area filled with art studios and stories from the 19th century.

We’ll visit King Peter Street, one of the oldest streets in the city, and stop by the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral (Saborna Crkva), before making our way back along the same path to the starting point.
