Description

Discover the Slovenian Alps on a day trip from Bled. Explore Triglav National Park, cross the Vršič Pass, and visit the Soča Valley. Enjoy a homemade snack and free time in Bovec.
Begin your day in Bled/Bohinj and set off through the picturesque Upper Sava Valley, heading toward the Julian Alps. Make your first scenic stop at Zelenci Nature Reserve, a magical emerald spring where Slovenia’s longest river begins.

Pause at Lake Jasna, a stunning alpine lake at the foot of the Julian Alps. Take a short and easy walk to the lake to see crystal-clear reflections, scenic bridges, and mountain views.

Continue your journey over the Vršič Pass, the highest mountain road in Slovenia at 1,611 meters above sea level. As you gently wind your way up through a series of scenic bends, be surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Julian Alps, right in the heart of Triglav National Park.

As you descend into the Soča Valley, be welcomed by one of the most beautiful alpine river valleys in Europe. The turquoise waters, suspension bridges, and dramatic cliffs create a truly unforgettable panorama.

Take a short, flexible walk along one of the river’s famous natural gorges – such as Velika Korita, Mala Korita, or another hidden gem – depending on conditions and group ability. It’s a perfect way to get close to the raw beauty of the Soča River.

Stop in Bovec, a charming alpine town nestled beneath the mighty Kanin mountain. Known as Slovenia’s adventure sports capital, Bovec is lively in summer with activities like canyoning, rafting, and hiking. Enjoy free time here for lunch and a bit of exploration.

After Bovec, continue through the Soča Valley and, if time and conditions allow, visit Kozjak Waterfall, one of the most beautiful hidden waterfalls in Slovenia. Enjoy a short scenic walk of around 20 minutes each way through the forest and into a narrow rocky gorge, where the waterfall drops into an emerald-green pool. It is a peaceful and photogenic stop that adds a magical touch to the day.

Continue along the Soča River, passing tranquil alpine villages and enjoying views of the valley’s serene beauty. Conclude your adventure with a unique car train ride from Most na Soči back toward Bohinj. As you relax and pass through tunnels and mountain scenery, reflect on the stunning diversity of the day.
