Kandy to Ella Drop offers a unique alternative to the usual tourist route by taking you through Sri Lanka's peaceful hidden hill country before finishing with one of the island's most scenic train journeys.

Your private journey begins with pickup from your hotel or any location in Kandy. Instead of following the busy main road, travel along the beautiful Randenigala route, where you'll experience quiet mountain landscapes, forests, reservoirs, and authentic rural villages rarely visited by most travelers.

Your first scenic stop is the Victoria Reservoir Viewpoint, where you can admire breathtaking views over one of Sri Lanka's largest reservoirs. Continue to Randenigala Dam, an important part of the Mahaweli Development Project. At the nearby viewpoint, your guide will explain how the Mahaweli River has transformed agriculture, hydroelectric power generation, and daily life across Sri Lanka while you enjoy panoramic valley views.

Along the journey, you may stop at a small roadside tea stall to enjoy freshly brewed Ceylon tea, just as local travelers do.

Next, enjoy a walk through a peaceful forest trail leading to the spectacular Dunhinda Waterfall Viewpoint, one of Sri Lanka's most beautiful waterfalls. If time permits, you may also visit the historic Muthiyangana Raja Maha Viharaya, one of the country's most respected Buddhist temples.

Before boarding the train, you may stop at a local restaurant in Badulla for lunch. Lunch is not included, but your guide will happily recommend suitable restaurants and assist with arrangements.

Continue to Badulla Railway Station, where your train tickets are included for the beautiful journey to Ella. This section of the railway is famous for its lush tea plantations, mountain scenery, forests, bridges, and peaceful countryside, making it one of the most enjoyable rail experiences in Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival at Ella Railway Station, your guide will meet you and provide a comfortable transfer to your hotel or accommodation in Ella.

Please Note: with the Government rules, the train is not available from Badulla to Ella in Each Wednesdays. So you must concern it before the booking. On Wednesdays, we will take you directly to the Ella Hotel by Car/Van.
