Experience an exciting day along Sri Lanka’s southern coast with a combination of whale watching and cultural sightseeing.
Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Bentota, Kalutara, or Galle or nearby areas. Head to the mirissa harbor and board a licensed whale-watching boat with a certified guide. Cruise into the deep sea, approximately 20–40 km offshore, and keep an eye out for blue whales, sperm whales, Bryde’s whales, spinner dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine life.
Enjoy a light breakfast and refreshments onboard as you take in the panoramic ocean views. Have free time for photography and relaxation before returning to shore by mid-morning or early afternoon.
Next, head to Galle Fort. a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop for lunch on the way (not included) before exploring the fort. It may depending on available time and personal interest Enjoy free time to explore the fort’s colonial streets, ramparts, lighthouse, boutiques, and cafés.
After exploring Galle Fort, make a stop at a turtle hatchery (tickets not included) to see sea turtles up close. If you’re interested, you can also visit a moonstone gem mine before returning to Bentota.
