Description

Explore real Bangkok in a small group. Visit the world's largest gold Buddha, wander century-old Chinese quarters, taste Michelin-guide street food, and ride a boat past Chao Praya temples.
Escape the tourist trail and see Bangkok the way locals experience it, on this small-group day trip from Pattaya.
Your day begins at Wat Traimit, home to the world's largest solid gold Buddha, a statue that stayed hidden under plaster for nearly two centuries before its true value was discovered by accident. From there, wander through Talat Noi, Bangkok's oldest Chinese neighborhood, where colonial-era shophouses, hand-painted murals, and small family workshops keep old traditions alive. A short walk leads into the heart of Chinatown along Yaowarat, past colonial facades and backstreets most tourists never find.
Sit down for lunch at a Michelin-recommended street food stall, sampling crab fried rice, duck in orange sauce, and fried oysters. Afterward, browse Sampeng Market, where locals shop for their own stores rather than souvenirs, then visit the unusual Wat Chakkrawat, a temple with a wartime crocodile legend and a resident crocodile pond to this day.
Board a boat for a scenic ride along the Chao Praya River, taking in views of temples, the old city, and Bangkok's modern skyline, before docking near the Grand Palace. Spend time exploring the Grand Palace grounds, the Emerald Buddha Temple, and Wat Pho, home to the enormous Reclining Buddha.
Cool down with a taste of mango sticky rice from a stall locals queue for hours to reach, then see the towering red Giant Swing, linked to Hindu mythology and the god Shiva. Wrap up the day on Khao San Road, Bangkok's famous backpacker street, before the drive back to Pattaya.
