Port Vila: Harbour Kayak Tour with Guide

Explore Port Vila's harbor on a guided kayak tour. Paddle past local markets, waterfront homes, and islands, and spot turtles and dugongs in the sea grass.
Meet your guide at the office on the seafront next to Nambawan Café and Big Blue Dive. Do some paperwork, then get introduced to the kayaks, which will be set up on the lawn waiting for you. Put on spray skirts and life jackets, and learn how the kayaks work, including the rudder and the best technique to paddle.

Once you’re ready, carry your boats down to the water and set off up the harbour. Paddle past the handicraft markets and the local produce market. Cruise effortlessly past some of the best restaurants in town and along Millionaires Row, where you’ll see the nice houses along the waterfront.

Cross over the channel to Iririki Island and skirt the island to the main cargo and cruise ship wharfs. Ifira Point and Ifira Island are next on the list to tick off. Once you arrive here, stop and stretch your legs a little before paddling around the back side of Ifira Island. This is where you may spot a turtle swimming across the reef.

The harbour entrance and Malapoa Point are next to conquer, which is where you’ll have an amazing view of the beautiful harbour and the sights of Port Vila City in the distance. The final stretch of this half-day kayak is along the reef, next to Malapoa. This is a great area to spot a dugong lazing in the seagrass meadows. Return to base just before lunchtime, where you’ll be able to have a refreshing lunch at Nambawan Café.
