Description

Visit three family-run craft homes for wood, noodles and mat weaving. Perfect for curious culture lovers who prefer small, slow-paced groups.
Ride beyond the Old Town and discover the real everyday countryside of Hoi An on a small-group bicycle tour focused on craft villages and local life, not tourist shows.

This 3-hour experience is ideal for curious travellers who enjoy gentle cycling, meeting local families and learning how traditional crafts are made. It runs in the morning or the afternoon, so you can choose the cooler time that fits your day.

Your tour starts at the JoyOn hub or with a hotel pick-up, where you meet your local guide for a short safety briefing and bike fitting. Once everyone is comfortable, you pedal out of town onto quiet village roads, rice fields and riverside paths that most visitors never see.

Your first major stop is Kim Bong carpentry village. Here you meet woodcarvers in their family workshop, see how they shape and decorate wood by hand, and hear stories about the history of this craft on the island. If you like, you can also try a very simple carving step under the artisan’s guidance.

Next, you visit a traditional rice noodle family that has been making noodles for generations. You watch the full process from rice to drying trays, and you’re invited to help roll or cut the noodles. It’s a fun way to understand how everyday dishes in Hoi An begin in small village kitchens.

The third stop is a mat-weaving family home. You step inside, sit by the loom and learn how colorful sleeping mats are woven from natural grasses. Hands-on weaving is optional, but many guests enjoy trying a few lines while chatting with the hosts.

Between these visits, you continue to ride through small lanes, riverside tracks and rustic bridges, observing farmers, boat builders and children playing – the quiet “secrets” of countryside life that most tours only pass quickly.

Midway through the tour, you take a break at a local riverside café. Relax for a while, enjoy Vietnamese coffee or a refreshing local juice, and take in the view of the water and the boats drifting past before you ride back.

The tour ends with a leisurely cycle back through the fields to your starting point. Your guide is happy to share recommendations for where to eat or what to explore next in Hoi An.

This tour does not include basket boats, buffalo riding or cooking classes. Instead, it focuses on three specific crafts, real family workshops and unhurried conversation, making it perfect for guests who want an authentic, low-stress look at Hoi An’s countryside and the people who keep its traditions alive.
