An impressive overview of Santiago. The largest island in the archipelago awaits you. From the hilly south to the wild north and paradisiacal beaches, nature can be found in all its diverse forms.
Directly from the port, we depart from Praia in comfortable minibuses with a German-speaking guide. Passing the airport and the national stadium, we drive through the hilly south, reminiscent of the African savanna. We leave the coast and head inland. After a few photo stops and having passed the island's highest mountain, we stroll through the lively pedestrian zone of Assomada and its adjacent weekly market. A little outside Assomada, we will visit the kapok tree, the oldest tree on the island, which may have witnessed the Portuguese discovery of the archipelago 500 years ago as a tiny bud. From there, we drive to the Serra Malagueta Natural Park to experience its breathtaking gorges. Reaching the highest point of our tour, we travel to Tarrafal and its stunning beach. A beautiful bay, crystal-clear water, surfing, caipirinhas, coconut water, or simply wandering through the town and letting yourself drift along; Here we have a bit of free time, with something for everyone. After soaking up the sun, we drive to the picturesque Ribeira di Principal valley, where time seems to have stood still. Sugarcane, bananas, papayas, and other crops thrive here year-round amidst a spectacular backdrop. Speaking of sugarcane, we'll visit a small distillery, and of course, we'll sample the same rum at lunch afterward. Now it's time to head back along the east coast, where, after taking some photos, we'll be back on the ship in good time.
