Experience a fascinating nature reserve with an eventful history
We meet in the tiny village of Nüxei, a district of the town of Bad Sachsa. The tour starts at the entrance to the village. From there, we walk a short distance along the new road and then enter the Sülzensee-Mackenroder Wald nature reserve, where you can admire sinkholes, disappearing streams, giant trees, and extensive beech forests. Today, it is lonely here, while in earlier times, various events shaped the area and left traces that you can still find today. We walk along almost forgotten paths and old borders, discover old construction projects that were never completed, and enjoy beautiful views of the Harz Mountains. Insights into the flora and fauna of this region round off the beautiful walk.

We walk on paths through the forest that are sometimes narrow. These can be muddy during or after rain.
The meeting point is opposite the yellow Nüxei town entrance sign in front of the bypass road underpass. There is ample parking there.
