Your journey begins at Genuine House, a Balinese family home nestled in the peaceful village 5 minutes from Tirta Empul temple. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and the calming atmosphere of the countryside, you’ll be warmly welcomed with a cup of freshly brewed Balinese coffee and a selection of traditional Balinese sweet treats (Jaje Bali), just as local families welcome guests into their homes. As you relax together, your host will share stories about daily life in Bali and the traditions that continue to shape the island today.

You’ll then explore the layout of a traditional Balinese family compound, discovering how every space reflects centuries of philosophy and belief. Learn the purpose of the Merajan (family temple), the Bale where family life takes place, the traditional Balinese kitchen, and the lush tropical courtyard that creates harmony between the home and nature. Rather than simply visiting a house, you’ll gain an understanding of how architecture, spirituality, and everyday life are beautifully connected in Balinese culture.

As your experience continues, you’ll discover the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—the Balinese principle of living in harmony with God, with one another, and with nature. Learn a few simple Balinese greetings, hear the stories behind local customs, and gain a deeper appreciation of the values that continue to guide Balinese families today.

Next, you’ll create your own Canang Sari, Bali’s daily offering of gratitude, using fresh flowers and natural materials. More than a hands-on activity, you’ll learn the symbolism behind each flower, color, and element, understanding why these offerings are lovingly prepared and placed throughout homes, temples, and villages every single day.

Before leaving for Tirta Empul Temple, your local host will introduce you to traditional temple etiquette, proper attire, and the respectful customs observed before entering one of Bali’s most sacred places.

Only after this meaningful cultural preparation will your journey continue to Tirta Empul Temple (by our car), where you’ll be accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide through the sacred Melukat purification ceremony. As you move through the holy spring, you’ll learn the symbolism behind the temple’s sacred water fountains and the deeper meaning of each stage of the ritual—experiencing it with understanding rather than simply following the crowd.
