Ready for a once-in-a-lifetime hiking adventure in Bavaria? Join our guided overnight tour and summit two of the region’s most breathtaking peaks – Herzogstand and Heimgarten – with unforgettable views, a golden sunset, and a magical sunrise. Spend the night in a cozy traditional mountain hut, enjoy delicious Bavarian food, and maybe a cold beer on the terrace with panoramic alpine views.


We’ll pick you up at your hotel or accommodation in Munich at noon and head into the mountains by minivan. After a 1.5-hour drive, we’ll start with the hike.

The trail starts in the cool forest and gently winds uphill. It’s a steady climb of about 2–3 hours, requiring average fitness but no technical skills. After around 1.5 hours, we’ll reach a viewpoint overlooking Lake Kochel, where we’ll rest and enjoy some snacks.

As we continue, the forest opens up and soon the Herzogstand summit and our mountain hut come into view. In about another hour, we reach the Berggasthof Herzogstand, a traditional hut and restaurant perched high in the Alps, where we’ll spend the night.

After checking in, it’s time to relax on the terrace with stunning alpine views and enjoy a traditional Bavarian dinner (not included in the price) and if you like a cold beer (not included in the price).

In the evening (around 7 or 8 pm depending on the season), we’ll hike 30 minutes uphill to the summit of Herzogstand just in time to watch the sunset. As the sun dips behind the mountains and lights the sky in golden hues, we’ll soak in the magical atmosphere before returning to the hut for the night.

The next morning, we start early (around 5 am depending on the season) to return to the Herzogstand summit for a breathtaking sunrise. With the mountains still quiet and peaceful, it’s the perfect moment to enjoy a light breakfast (included in the price) that the hut has provided for take-away while watching the world wake up.

After sunrise, we continue to the second peak – Heimgarten. The trail between the two summits is a narrow ridge path, often described as one of the most scenic ridge walks in Bavaria. It’s not technically difficult but does require a head for heights. The views along the way are absolutely spectacular.

Once we reach Heimgarten, it's time for a break and for enjoying the stunning view one last time before we descend (2 - 3 hours) to the valley.

Return to Munich and drop-off at your accomodation will be around 2 pm.
