Descrizione
Experience the magic of Athens at night on a small group walking tour through historic neighborhoods and illuminated ancient sites, with a traditional Greek dinner. Perfect for first-time visitors.
We’ll start our evening at Syntagma Square, right in front of the Greek Parliament, where you’ll see the famous Changing of the Guard. It’s one of those moments that feels even more special at night, and along the way your host will explain what the ceremony really means and why it’s still so important to Greeks today.
From there, we head into Plaka, the oldest neighborhood in Athens. As we walk through its small streets, you’ll see the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Small Mitropolis, while hearing stories about everyday life in old Athens and how the city has changed over the centuries.
Next comes Anafiotika, one of those places most visitors would never find on their own. Tucked just below the Acropolis, it feels more like a Greek island than the center of a capital city, with white houses, narrow paths, and a calm atmosphere that’s perfect in the evening.
We then walk around the Ancient Agora, once the heart of public life in ancient Athens. From here, you’ll have great views of the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best preserved ancient temples in Greece, while your host shares stories about how Athenians lived, worked, and debated thousands of years ago.
After all that walking, it’s time to relax. We stop in Thiseio for dinner at a carefully chosen restaurant that locals truly love. This isn’t a place you go for the view, you go for the food. Expect traditional Greek dishes made with fresh ingredients, served in a warm, local atmosphere.
Once dinner is done, we continue through Monastiraki, one of the liveliest parts of the city. You’ll see the Tzistarakis Mosque, hear about the area’s Ottoman past, and get a feel for how different layers of history exist side by side in Athens.
Our walk finishes near Hadrian’s Library and the Roman Agora, where you’ll see the Gate of Athena Archegetis and the Tower of the Winds. With the ruins lit up at night and the city buzzing around them, it’s the perfect way to end the experience seeing Athens not as a museum, but as a living city. After the experience end, your guide will return you back to the meeting point.
