Jakarta: Batik, Jamu Tasting, and Old Town Tour

Experience the productive Indonesian Unesco Heritage first hand, the Batik making process on a handkerchief and Jamu traditional spice herb tasting choice of turmeric tamarind or aromatic ginger
Our experience together will begin at the hotel or any convenient meeting point, where our english speaking guide and personal licensed driver will pick you up and welcome you into Jakarta,

The guide and driver will drive you into the Jakarta Textile Museum where you could experience the Batik making process

Batik is an ancient pattern making technique which is the wax - resist dyeing, have long been practice in Java since the 14th century. You will be provided a handkerchief size cloth to work on and thereafter you could pick from various motives of Batik of your desire or any customized motive if you have a soul of an artist in you. The stove and a pot of hot wax will be prepare for you along with 'Canting' the traditional applicator for batik where you will be ask to put the in wax in, be careful of the hot wax! The guide and instructor will walk you through the process until you finished the process,

After the motives and the waxing process is finish, you will be ask to choose the base color for the batik and the instructor will dye it for you, which thereafter they will dry the fabric and finally remove the wax of the cloth,
and your Batik will be ready to go

You could bring home your hard - earned Batik piece home as a souvenir

While waiting for the cloth to dry our guide will walk you through the rest of the Textile museum to show you other valuable Batik and Indonesian textile collections from all around Indonesia.

On Monday all the museums in Indonesia will closed hence you will be experiencing the Batik in other venue.

Moving on to the next experience would be the guide will you to the Batavia Old Town where you could pay a visit to the Indonesian puppet studio another Unesco world heritage also known as Wayang in Indonesian. The Guide will explain the process of making and demonstrate the shadow puppet, if you are lucky you might come during one of the random shows.

Walking just 2 minutes from the puppet studio you will begin another experience of Indonesian Culture , Jamu tasting. You are allowed to choose 1 from 2 kinds of Indonesian herbs elixir or espresso shot, the energizing Turmeric Tamarind or the relaxing Aromatic Ginger

After the tasting the guide will conclude the tour with the little exploration of Batavia Old Town History where you would have the opportunity to take a break or even some meals at your own expenses before the guide and driver will drop you back to the hotel or the most convenient drop - off point
