Begin your journey at Shukkeien Garden, a beautiful Edo-period garden that once served as a private villa for Hiroshima’s feudal lord. Next, visit the former Hiroshima Communications Hospital (Hiroshima Teishin Hospital), one of the important medical facilities that responded immediately after the atomic bombing. Here, you will learn about the doctors, nurses, and patients who faced the challenges of treating victims in the aftermath of August 6, 1945. Please note that on Mondays, the former hospital building is closed, so the visit will be limited to the exterior only.

Continue to Hiroshima Castle, a historic landmark that tells the story of the city before and during World War II. Learn how Hiroshima developed as a castle town, how the castle became connected with the military history of the region, and how it was rebuilt after being destroyed by the atomic bomb. After exploring the castle area, take a short break at Hiroshima Gate Park, a modern public space that represents the city’s ongoing renewal and vibrant present. This is a perfect opportunity to rest, enjoy the atmosphere of the city, and prepare for the second half of the tour.

Your guide will then lead you toward Orizuru Tower and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Atomic Bomb Dome. Discover the events surrounding August 6, 1945, and learn why Hiroshima became the first city in history to experience an atomic bombing.
