Discover the Canglang Pavilion, also known as the Blue Wave Pavilion, the oldest classical garden in Suzhou and a core component of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Classical Gardens of Suzhou. First built in 1045 during the Northern Song Dynasty by the poet Su Shunqin, it carries over 970 years of history and represents the elegant aesthetic of literati gardens in ancient China.

Admire the garden's unique layout that borrows external scenery. A winding river surrounds the garden gate, and a covered corridor with 108 exquisite latticed windows runs along the water. Walk through the corridor and enjoy the rippling water outside and the secluded mountain scenery inside the garden at the same time, perfectly embodying the traditional Chinese gardening art of “borrowing views.”

See the garden's centerpiece, an earth-rock mountain, with the iconic Canglang Pavilion standing on the hilltop. Surrounded by lush bamboo and ancient trees, the simple and elegant pavilion bears the famous couplet “Clear breeze and bright moon are priceless; nearby waters and distant mountains all hold deep affection”, which has been passed down for centuries.
