From Kathmandu: 10-Day Bhairav Kunda Trek with Meals

Embark on a 10-day trek from Kathmandu to Bhairav Kunda Lake. Experience traditional village life, camp in the Himalayas, and enjoy mountain views on this culturally rewarding journey.
Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Jalbire, passing through river valleys, terraced hills, rural settlements, and beautiful countryside. From Jalbire, start the trekking section toward Chanaute and continue to Khani Gaun, where you can experience traditional village life and the culture of the local Tamang and Sherpa communities.

Enjoy an acclimatization day at Khani Gaun to rest, explore the surrounding area, and prepare for the higher elevations. From Khani Gaun, the trail gradually climbs through peaceful forests of rhododendron, oak, and pine toward Forest Camp and Pati. As the elevation increases, the scenery changes from cultivated hills and dense forests to open alpine landscapes.

The higher sections have limited lodge facilities, making camping an important part of the trekking experience. Spend nights in tents while enjoying the remote Himalayan environment and mountain scenery. The major highlight is the trek from Pati to Bhairav Kunda, reaching an altitude of approximately 4,250 meters.

The ascent becomes more challenging as the trail enters higher alpine terrain, but the effort is rewarded by the sacred lake and spectacular Himalayan surroundings. On clear days, enjoy views toward the Jugal Himal and Dorje Lakpa mountain region. Bhairav Kunda has strong religious significance and attracts Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, particularly during Janai Purnima.

After exploring Bhairav Kunda, the route descends through Sherpa Gaon toward Larche. The changing landscape provides views of forests, hills, rivers, villages, and rural Himalayan life. The lower elevation brings warmer conditions and greener surroundings before the final scenic drive from Larche back to Kathmandu.
