Day 1: Monastir, Sousse, Mahdia, Tunis, Nabeul, or Hammamet – El Jem – Matmata – Ksar Ghilane

Begin your adventure with a pickup from your chosen location and head towards southern Tunisia. Visit El Jem and explore the impressive Roman Amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved in the world. Learn about its history and take photos of this remarkable ancient monument.

Continue to Matmata, famous for its unique underground troglodyte dwellings carved into the earth. Discover this remarkable Berber architecture and learn about the traditional lifestyle of the local communities. Visit a traditional troglodyte house and hear cultural explanations from your guide.

Next, head to Ksar Ghilane, one of southern Tunisia’s most beautiful desert oases. Surrounded by golden Sahara dunes and palm trees, the oasis is famous for its natural thermal spring. Enjoy free time to relax, explore the oasis, and, when conditions allow, swim in the warm spring. Optional activities such as camel rides and quad biking across the surrounding dunes are available at an additional cost.

After Ksar Ghilane, continue to the desert camp and settle into the accommodation. Enjoy the peaceful desert atmosphere and watch the sunset over the dunes. Watch a traditional sand bread demonstration, showing how bread is prepared and baked beneath hot sand and embers.

Enjoy a traditional dinner at the camp, followed by traditional music or entertainment when available. Relax around the camp, admire the desert scenery, and enjoy the clear night sky away from city lights before spending the night in your tent.

Day 2: Ksar Ghilane – Chott el Jerid – Tamerza/Tamaghza – Kairouan – Return

Begin with breakfast at the desert camp before continuing through the spectacular landscapes of southern Tunisia. Cross Chott el Jerid, the largest salt lake in North Africa, known for its immense salt-covered plains, changing colors, reflections, and surreal desert scenery. Stop for photos where possible.

Continue towards the mountain oasis region of Tamerza/Tamaghza, where the scenery changes from open desert to rocky mountains, canyons, palm groves, natural springs, and oasis landscapes. Enjoy sightseeing in the oasis area and listen to your guide explain the region’s natural environment, history, and traditional importance.

Continue towards Kairouan, one of Tunisia’s most important historic and cultural cities. Stop for sightseeing or photos before beginning the return journey. Finally, return to your original pickup location. The exact arrival time depends on the departure location, traffic, road conditions, and the day’s itinerary.
