4 Day Bale Mountain tour

Day 1: Arrival in Bale and Visit Dinsho and Goba

Arrive in Bale and head straight to the Dinsho area, the gateway to Bale Mountains National Park, to see endemic wildlife such as the Ethiopian wolf and the Menelik’s bushbuck. Explore the park’s lush landscapes and take a short hike through the alpine meadows for breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, continue to Goba, the main town near the park, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the area before settling in for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Hike to Sanetti Plateau and Visit Tullu Deemtu

After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to the Sanetti Plateau, where you’ll walk through the high-altitude moorlands, a prime location to spot rare wildlife like the Ethiopian wolf and giant molerat. Visit Tullu Deemtu, the highest peak in the Bale Mountains, for spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding highlands. Return to Goba in the evening, where you can relax and enjoy a cozy overnight stay after an adventurous day.

Day 3: Visit Harenna Forest and Waterfalls

Today, explore the Harenna Forest, one of the last remaining tropical forests in Ethiopia, home to rare species such as the Bale monkey and forest antelope. Take a hike through the dense forest, enjoying the quiet, cool atmosphere and visiting hidden waterfalls along the way. In the afternoon, return to Goba to unwind, soaking in the natural beauty of the surrounding landscapes.

Day 4: Explore Sof Omar Caves and Departure

After breakfast, head to the Sof Omar Caves, a remarkable limestone cave system carved by the Weyib River, where you can walk through the eerie tunnels and chambers. Learn about the cultural and historical significance of the caves to the local Oromo people, then enjoy the surrounding landscapes.In the afternoon, drive back to the airport for your departure, concluding your incredible Bale Mountain adventure.
