Addis Ababa: 8-Day Omo Valley and Lake Tana Tour

Discover the Omo Valley and Lake Tana on an 8-day tour from Addis Ababa. Visit the Ari, Mursi, Dassanech, and Nyangatom tribes, explore Bahir Dar, and see the Blue Nile Falls.
Day 1: Addis Ababa to Jinka

Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka. Upon arrival, be picked up from the airport and check in to your hotel. Visit the Ari tribe, known for their unique lifestyle and traditional crafts. Walk through the village, learn about local food preparation, and witness metalwork and other handicrafts. Return to Jinka for the night.

Day 2: Mursi and Dassanech Tribes

Drive to the Mursi tribe, famous for their women’s lip plates. Continue to Turmi, then head to the Kenyan border to visit the Dassanech tribe. Experience their rich cultural heritage and traditional lifestyle. Overnight in Turmi.

Day 3: Kara and Hamer Tribes

After breakfast, drive to Korcho village to visit the Kara tribe. Enjoy the scenic views of the Omo River and its floodplains. Return to Turmi to visit one of the largest Hamer villages. Overnight in Turmi.

Day 4: Nyangatom Tribe and Konso

Drive to the Nyangatom tribe near the South Sudan border, crossing the Omo River’s biggest bridge. Discover their unique dressing style and colorful necklaces. Continue to Konso for the night.

Day 5: Konso Village and Market

Visit the Konso tribe, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for their terraced fields and traditional villages. Explore the weekly Keyafer market, where different tribes gather to trade. Fly back to Addis Ababa and continue to Bahir Dar. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 6: Blue Nile Falls and Bahir Dar

Visit the Blue Nile Falls, located about 30 km from Bahir Dar. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take photos. In the afternoon, explore one of the largest markets in the city and learn about its history and architecture. In the evening, relax and enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 7: Lake Tana and Monasteries

Take a boat trip on Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia, to visit some of the ancient monasteries located on the lake's islands. Don't miss out on Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam monasteries. Fly back to Addis Ababa and overnight in the city.

Day 8: Addis Ababa City Tour

After breakfast, explore the city of Addis Ababa. Visit key attractions and learn about the city’s history and culture.
