Kamikochi is often called "Japan's Jiuzhaigou," but it is far more than a scenic spot to simply "check off" a list. It is a sanctuary you must walk through, look at, and breathe in. We have set aside 3.5 hours of unscripted free time for you, providing the perfect window to step into this pristine alpine valley cradled by the majestic Northern Alps.

Stop 1: Kamikochi · 3.5 Hours of Free Walking (11:30–15:00)
After a scenic 3.5-hour journey from Nagoya, you will arrive in Kamikochi. The moment you step off the bus, the air feels instantly cooler and sweeter, carrying the fresh scent of ancient forests. Sitting at an altitude of about 1,500 meters, this alpine haven remains a comfortable 22°C even in the height of summer.
Standing at the Kamikochi Bus Terminal, with the rugged, snow-dusted peaks of the Northern Alps stretching endlessly before you, a profound sense of awe will naturally arise.

Route ① – Classic Beginner Course (approx. 3.5 km, 1–1.5 hours)
This route is perfect for those seeking a gentle introduction to the valley's magic. Following a flat, well-maintained trail, you will pass the iconic Kappa Bridge, where the Azusa River flows in mesmerizing shades of emerald and turquoise. As you stroll, towering larch trees and the majestic silhouette of Mount Hotaka will gently envelop you.

Route ② – Advanced Course (approx. 5.6 km, 2–2.5 hours)
If you crave a deeper connection with nature, this route is your ideal choice. Leaving the lively Kappa Bridge behind, follow the quieter left bank of the Azusa River toward Myojin Bridge and Myojin Pond. As you wander through the primeval forest and pass the serene Takezawa Wetland, it feels as though the entire world has slowed down.

Stop 2: Mount Kariya · Window Viewing (15:00–16:00)
Leaving Kamikochi, the bus will head to the final stop of the day—Mount Kariya. At about 2,070 meters, this peak lies on the main ridge of the Northern Alps, connecting Mt. Nishihotaka to Mt. Yake.

Return: Arrive Nagoya around 19:00
We will leave the highlands and head back to Nagoya through the soft hues of dusk, arriving at JR Nagoya Station around 19:00. May you carry away a whole gallery of unforgettable memories: the dreamlike reflections on Taisho Pond, the iconic wooden frame of Kappa Bridge, the mesmerizing emerald flow of the Azusa River, and the majestic, fading outline of Mount Kariya in the twilight.
