The bridge played a vital role in connecting Santa Fe de Antioquia to Medellín and other parts of the region, it facilitated trade and communication in the area during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Walking across the bridge provides breathtaking panoramic views of the Cauca River and the surrounding countryside.
