With this excursion we will visit the Cotahuasi canyon, the Majes and Huaynacotas valleys and the Coropuna and Solimana volcanoes. In addition, you can enjoy the healing waters of the Luicho baths.
Itinerary
Day 1
The tour will begin at 5:30 am. Once reunited, we will head to the Majes Valley, two hours from Arequipa. During the journey we will stop to have a breakfast that includes coffee, juice, bread, eggs, butter and jam.
In this valley is one of the tourist destinations that receives the most visitors in the area: the Jurassic Park of Querulpa. Did you know that it houses real dinosaur footprints? We will tour the park and then we will go to Toro Muerto, where we will find one of the most famous samples of rock art in the area, its famous petroglyphs.
Next we will make a stop in Chuquibamba to have lunch, which will consist of meat stew, pasta and soup. With lunch we will gain strength to begin a four-hour climb to the mountain pass between the Coropuna and Solimana volcanoes. Afterwards, we will descend to the Cotahuasi canyon, also called the canyon of wonders. Did you know that it is one of the deepest in the world?
After contemplating this natural jewel, we will go to a town in the valley to have a dinner consisting of soup, rice with vegetables and a hot drink. Finally, we will spend the night in a family house. A unique experience!
Day 2
The second day we will leave for Taurisma, a small town where we will spend half an hour exploring its broom forests, hanging bridges and archaeological remains. Afterwards, we will go to Tomepampa for a three-hour walk passing through Andean towns such as Huaynacotas. Finally, we will arrive at the famous Luicho thermal baths, where you will have half an hour of free time to enjoy its therapeutic waters. Without a doubt, a great way to recover after the walk. How relaxing!
After a restorative bath, we will return to Cotahuasi to rest at the accommodation.
Day 3
We will begin the last day with a hiking route along the shore of the Cotahuasi River. We will follow its channel until we reach a point where the river narrows to just 5 meters wide, and then jump from a height of 150 meters. This place is known as Sipia waterfall, where we will spend an hour contemplating the fierce fall of its waters and exploring the surroundings. At the end of the road, the Cunyac Bridge awaits us, the favorite of bungee jumping lovers.
Here the bus will wait for us to take us back to Cotahuasi, where we will have lunch. Finally, we will drop you off at your hotel in Arequipa at 8:00 p.m.
