Opis

Explore Fort VII, the first German concentration camp on Polish soil, on a private tour. Learn about its history and hear real stories of prisoners from a licensed guide.
Meet your guide at the entrance to Fort VII and begin your private tour of one of Poznań's most important historical sites. Built in the 19th century as part of the Prussian fortress ring around the city, it became Konzentrationslager Posen in 1939, the first German concentration camp on occupied Polish territory.

Walk through the site with your guide and learn about what happened here. Fort VII held Polish resistance fighters, priests, teachers, officials, and ordinary civilians arrested under occupation law. Unlike the huge extermination camps most visitors already know, Fort VII functioned more as a brutal detention and interrogation prison. Its narrow, windowless brick corridors and cramped cells remain largely as they were, giving the site an unusually raw atmosphere.

Your guide will also take you to the former artillery bunker used as a gas chamber, where in 1939 Nazi Germany carried out its first use of poison gas to kill civilians, as part of the so-called T4 programme targeting psychiatric patients. A dedicated exhibition inside the fort explains this chapter in stark detail.

This is not a light sightseeing stop, and that is precisely its value: walking through the same cells and corridors, hearing real prisoners' stories and seeing surviving inscriptions on the brick walls, makes this period of history immediate and unforgettable. Your guide turns a visit to empty rooms into a genuinely meaningful encounter with this chapter of Poznań's past.
