Opis

Experience 2 days of adventure in the heart of the Sine Saloum wilderness, among mangroves, islands, and Serer villages. Sleep under the stars on the uninhabited island of Marabout.
For two days, explore the Sine Saloum, a wild region where the bolongs meander between mangroves, islands, and Serer villages. With a local team that knows the delta intimately, discover its landscapes, history, and traditions.

The adventure begins in the morning in Toubacouta. On board an open, flat-bottomed boat, you'll sail through the heart of the delta. The route takes you into the Little Amazon, a passage so narrow in the middle of the mangrove forest that you sometimes have to lower your head and tuck in your arms when the boat glides under the branches. Upon exiting, you may be lucky enough to spot a crocodile.

Depending on the season, the first few hours offer two different experiences. From November until the end of March, you will reach Bird Island, a refuge for thousands of royal terns and many other species. As you approach, their cries break the silence of the mangrove forest.

From April to the end of October, you'll take the bolong that separates two magnificent beaches. From the boat, admire Plage d'Or and its few huts integrated into the landscape, then dock on the huge deserted sandy beach of Ginac. With no one in sight, enjoy a swim and share a meal prepared by the water.

The journey continues to Missirah. Discover this fishing village, its colorful canoes, and its traditional harbor, then its monumental cheese factory, the largest in all of Senegal.

At the end of the day, your boat will take you to the uninhabited island of Marabout for the highlight of the adventure. While the team sets up the tents and beds, watch the sun go down over the bolongs. When night falls, gather around the campfire to taste mangrove oysters and enjoy a dinner prepared on the spot. Enjoy this evening away from the hustle and bustle, then sleep in a tent, surrounded by the sounds of nature. On this uninhabited island, the starry sky and the calm of the delta give the night an unforgettable atmosphere.

The next day, have breakfast facing the delta, then sail to Sipo Island. Discover the daily life of this Serer village, spend some time with its inhabitants, and meet its king, the guardian of the island's memory and traditions.

After lunch, a local three-wheeled vehicle will take you to the Bamboung Protected Marine Area. Explore this protected area, its mangrove forests, and its biodiversity, then return to Sipo to find your boat.

You will then sail to Diorom Boumack, the Shell Island. Its shell mounds, ancient burial mounds, and majestic baobabs bear witness to centuries of history.

Finally, head to the bird roost at sunset. Hundreds of herons and egrets return to the mangroves to spend the night. After this final show in the heart of the wilderness, return to Toubacouta with the feeling of having discovered the Sine Saloum from the inside.
