Enjoy an unforgettable desert experience from Djerba or Zarzis. Enjoy a magnificent sunset, a night under the stars, and a spectacular sunrise in the heart of the Sahara.
Day 1: Djerba or Zarzis – Toujane – Matmata – Sabria Desert
Morning departure from Djerba or Zarzis towards the south of Tunisia. The first stop is Toujane, an authentic Berber village perched in the Dhahar mountains. You'll have some free time to admire the panoramic landscapes, traditional stone houses, and discover local crafts.
Continue to Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses carved into the rock. Visit a traditional home to discover the Berber way of life, followed by a stop at the Sidi Idriss Hotel, an iconic site that served as the setting for the Star Wars film.
After lunch, head to the Sabria desert, at the gates of the Great Eastern Erg. Arrive in the dunes for a Saharan ride, settle into the camp, and enjoy free time to admire the sunset over the desert.
Traditional dinner and overnight in a tent in the heart of the Sahara, under a starry sky.
Day 2: Sabria – Douz – Guermassa – Chahbania Salt Lake – Djerba or Zarzis
Breakfast at the camp, then off to Douz, nicknamed the gateway to the desert. Free time to explore the city and the option of a camel ride or quad bike (optional).
Continue to Guermassa, an ancient Berber village with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and plains. Take a photo break and discover the local heritage.
Continue to the salt lake of Chahbania, famous for its unusual landscapes and color schemes, ideal for a last panoramic break.
At the end of the day, head back to Djerba or Zarzis, with your head full of memories of an unforgettable Saharan experience, combining desert, culture, and traditions.
