Day 1: Thimphu to Dochula Pass and Punakha

Enjoy a traditional Bhutanese lunch at a local restaurant, with an opportunity to sample dishes such as ema datshi, red rice, and seasonal vegetables. After lunch, descend through changing landscapes towards the warmer Punakha Valley, with photo stops where safe and permitted.
Explore the Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan's most impressive fortress-monasteries, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Learn about its religious, administrative, and historical significance.
