Uvita: Private Day tour Corcovado Park: Sirena Station

The day tour to the Sirena Station in Corcovado National Park begins in Uvita. While the other tour operators in Uvita provide tours to the San Pedrillo Stations, this tour offers the opportunity to go to Sirena, which is known to have the highest concentration of wildlife in Corcovado National Park.

From Uvita, we will travel to the boat dock in Sierpe by car. The trip from Sierpe to Sirena is about 2 hours long and takes us through the Terraba-Sierpe National Wetlands, where we will see the largest mangrove forest in Central America. After reaching the open ocean, we will look for dolphins, whales, and turtles on our way to arriving in Sirena.

One getting to the Sirena sector of Corcovado, we will have 5 to 6 hours to explore the trails and look for wildlife. While no wildlife sightings are guaranteed, common sightings in Sirena include: tapirs, sloths, tamanduas (anteaters), spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, peccaries, crocodiles, scarlet macaws, toucans, and many more.

I am a licensed naturalist guide in Costa Rica and during the tours, instead of just pointing out and identifying the wildlife, I like to talk about the natural history of the area, the special adaptations of the animals we see, how they serve a role in the larger ecosystem, or any other interesting information about them. So my goal is not just to provide a fun and interesting adventure, but also to educate about the environments we live in, sharing my passion for Costa Rica's wildlife and the importance of protecting and respecting the animals and ecosystems in which they live.

We will return in the afternoon to Sierpe by boat and then drive back to Uvita, arriving in the early evening. This is a full-day tour, which entails a travel time of about 6 hours total by car and boat. It is perfect for those travelers who are staying in Uvita and interested in seeing the unique wildlife of Corcovado National Park without having to drive all the way to Drake Bay or Puerto Jimenez. It is the easiest and quickest way to see the famous trails around the Sirena Biological Station.
