Martel was the favorite town of the Viscounty of Turenne. In the Middle Ages, these important lords turned the town into a trading city based on the salt trade. Later, trade continued with "tuber melanosporum" truffles and Périgord walnuts. Wednesday and Saturday mornings are market days in Martel! A great opportunity to continue your discovery of the town by browsing the stalls and discovering all the local products of the region. Martel is also recognized as a "Site de Goût" by the French Ministry of Gastronomy.
