Experience an impressive animal world surrounded by forests and lakes. Learn more about endangered animal species and observe rare species on an unforgettable day out at Schwerin Zoo.
Nestled between the Schwerin lakes is the 25-hectare, natural zoo in the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Get to know around 1700 animals from 150 different species, the majority of which are considered endangered.
These include the rare Asiatic lions, the endangered David's deer and the endangered Rothschild giraffes. As the only representatives of their species in the far north, southern white rhinos live in the 8,000 square meter rhino savannah at Schwerin Zoo.
You can learn more about species conservation and gain many exciting insights into the lives of the animals on your extended discovery tour through the zoo.
The Red List Center at Schwerin Zoo is unique in the world. In the building right at the entrance to the zoo, you can find out all about the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
There are numerous playgrounds and rest areas for small and large breaks as well as lots of fun in between.
If you don't want to bring your own food, you are welcome to use our catering facilities or get delicious snacks in the zoo store - or in good weather at the kiosk.
You are also welcome to bring your four-legged friend to the zoo! Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead.
