Try scuba with no experience or certification. Train in a pool, then, once your instructor confirms you're ready, take a boat to dive around the Gili Islands under your SSI instructor's supervision.
Never dived before? This Gili Air experience takes you from dry-land theory to breathing underwater in a single day, with an SSI-affiliated instructor guiding every step.

You'll start with a short theory session covering how scuba gear works, how pressure affects your ears and body, and how to communicate and stay safe underwater. From there, you'll move to one of Oceans 5's purpose-built training pools to put the theory into practice.

In the pool, you'll learn to inflate and deflate a buoyancy control device (BCD), breathe comfortably through a regulator, and equalize your ears, before swimming laps with full scuba equipment. You'll also practice clearing water from your mask and regulator, recovering a dropped regulator, and sharing air while stationary — the core safety skills every diver needs. By the end of the session, you'll be swimming underwater and controlling your position using your breathing and BCD.

Once your instructor confirms you're ready, you'll board a dive boat for your first supervised ocean dive around the Gili Islands, applying everything you practiced in the pool in open water. Afterward, your instructor debriefs the dive with you and explains the available next steps if you'd like to continue toward full SSI certification.

This is a guided introduction to scuba diving, not a certification course — ideal if you want to find out what diving feels like before committing to a multi-day course.

- The program does not result in an SSI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification.
- If you have any of the following conditions, a doctor's approval is required: asthma, epilepsy, lung or heart surgery, inner ear surgery, use of strong medications (including for high blood pressure or diabetes), or recent bone fractures (within the last 6 months).
- Participants must be able to understand and follow the instructor's safety directions throughout the program.
- What to bring: swimwear, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat, change of clothes, marine park fee, any required medication, and a sense of adventure!
Meet at the reception of Oceans 5 Gili Air, located directly next to Gili Air Harbour. Please arrive at 08:30, where our team will welcome you and your diving adventure will begin.
