Explore unknown beautiful countryside of Nara, Asuka, by a car!
How about avoiding much of tourists in Nara city and going to another Nara where you can experience much more than the city with fresh air, beautiful landscape, and deep historical sites about origin of Japan?
Asuka is the countryside village but it is not normal countryside but is full of historical sites and sometimes very mysterious places.
There were capitals until the endo of 7th century and this place is origin of Japan.
Let’s discover the hidden history and rich rural environment with nature!

Firstly, you’ll explore “Tanzan Shrine”, about 1 hour from city. You can feel beautiful and calm nature environment with forest and historical shrine. Breath deep and refresh you after your long travel!
This shrine is for very important person in the history of Japan.
The person and the Emperor Tenji had made the ancient Japanese political reforms called “Taika Reform” and much of things had been changed and they have been continued to today of Japan. This shrine is very beautiful for fresh green and colored leaves in Autumn.

Next, we will explore “The Site of Asuka Itabuki-no-Miya Palace” which was the Palace in 7th century and the Taika Reform was started from here in 645. You can image the revolution in ancient Japan and the country was created that endures to this day.
Then you will explore ancient tombs, "Takamatsuduka Kofun" and "Kitora Kofun". Both of tombs have beautiful ancient paintings in their wall inside. You can understand the connection between ancient Japan, China, and Korea in that time. The ancient people had their view of the universe and cosmology and they had built the capital and the country.
Next, we will explore mysterious stone structure called "Sakafuneishi Ruins" and "The Turtle Shaped Stonework".
Next, we will visit the ancient temple called "Asukadera". There is the oldest Buddhism Buddha in Japan called "Asuka Daibutsu". It has an influence of the continent in that time and is very different style from other Buddha statues.
Finally, discover the ruins of the ancient capital called "Fujiwara-Kyo". About 100000 people had lived here and later the capital was transferred to Nara. We will visit the museum and you can see the model of the capital and imagine how this capital was so huge and the structure of the capital was.
In this day trip to Asuka, you will be refreshed and know something new about Japan.
