Join us for a deep dive into Mombasa’s food scene. This isn’t about fine dining, it’s about the street vendors and small local eateries beloved by locals. With 15+ generous tastings over four hours, you’ll experience the full range of Swahili coastal flavours, from humble fried bites and smoky charcoal grills to rich coconut seafood and slow-cooked mutton.
Mombasa’s cuisine reflects centuries of African, Arab and Indian influence, and this tour is designed to help you taste and understand that cultural fusion.
Beyond the food, you’ll explore the historic spice market, taste seasonal tropical fruits, and hop on one of Mombasa’s iconic yellow rickshaws between stops.
Led by a knowledgeable local tastemaker guide who shares the stories behind the dishes and neighbourhoods, this small-group experience offers an authentic introduction to Mombasa's local food scene.

The tour reflects the local cuisine and it's limitations which means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction.
✖️ Unsuitable for vegetarian, vegan, and severe allergies as the number of tastings would be very limited.
Gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, pescatarian, mild peanut / tree nut allergies and no seafood diets possible though some tastings though not all tastings are suitable
✔ Suitable for no pork, halal and lactose intolerance (if ghee can be consumed).
Note that we use a tuk tuk / richshaw for some of the tour. These do not have seatbelts.
We recommend comfortable shoes as this is an easy-paced walking tour.
We operate come rain or shine, so please carry rain gear/umbrella if rain looks likely.
Please note that alcoholic drinks can only be served to those over 18 years old
There's lot of tastings to try, come hungry!
The meeting point at the Mombasa Spice Market is accessible by taxi from most of the city's central hotels. Uber along with several other ride hailing apps are available in Mombasa.
