Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Magadi – Scenic Drive & Exploration

Begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel, residence, or airport. Depart Nairobi and drive through the scenic Ngong Hills area and Maasai countryside while enjoying beautiful views of the Great Rift Valley landscapes.

Arrive in the Lake Magadi area around midday and check in at your lodge or camp. After lunch and relaxation, proceed for an afternoon excursion around the lake and surrounding wilderness areas.

Enjoy a scenic game drive, bird watching, photography stops, a visit to natural hot springs, and exploration of soda lake landscapes. Wildlife occasionally seen around the area includes zebras, giraffes, gazelles, wildebeests, ostriches, and baboons.

Depending on water levels and season, flamingos and other water birds may gather along sections of the lake. The dramatic scenery and reflections across the soda lake create excellent photography opportunities, especially during sunset.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Hike – Return to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, depart for a guided morning hike through the surrounding escarpments, hills, or volcanic landscapes depending on your chosen route and fitness level.

Popular hiking areas around Lake Magadi include the Nguruman Escarpment, Shompole Hills, scenic Rift Valley viewpoints, and natural springs and rocky trails. During the hike, enjoy panoramic Rift Valley views, birdlife, Maasai countryside scenery, and unique volcanic rock formations.

Your guide will provide information about local Maasai culture, the geology of the Rift Valley, wildlife and vegetation, and traditional lifestyles in the region. After the hike, return to the lodge for refreshments and check-out.

Begin the scenic return journey to Nairobi with optional stops for photography and refreshments along the route. Arrive back in Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening where you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or airport.
