On Day 2, you travel by private vehicle to Machha Khola via Arughat, witnessing rural Nepal’s terraced hills and riverside landscapes. From Machha Khola, the trekking route follows the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing suspension bridges and ascending through remote settlements like Jagat and Deng. These lower villages offer a glimpse into Gurung and Magar communities and lead you gradually toward the alpine environment of the upper Manaslu region.

The landscape changes as you trek through lush pine forests to Namrung and Lho, where the first dramatic views of Manaslu and Himalchuli greet you. By Day 7, you reach the beautiful village of Samagaon, surrounded by snow-covered peaks and Buddhist mani walls. A rest day here allows time for acclimatization and exploration, including optional hikes to Birendra Lake, the serene Pungyen Gompa, or even Manaslu Base Camp.

The trail then leads to Samdo, a windswept village near the Tibetan border, followed by Dharmashala, your final stop before the high pass. The most physically demanding and rewarding part of the trek comes on Day 11, when you cross the Larkya La Pass at 5,160 meters. From the top, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Cheo Himal, Himlung, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. The descent into Bimthang reveals stunning glacial valleys and alpine forests.

The final days of the trek bring you down through lush hillsides and traditional villages such as Gho and Tilije before concluding in Dharapani. From there, a scenic drive brings you back to Kathmandu for your final night in Nepal.

This trek includes licensed guides, all required permits, accommodations in Kathmandu and local teahouses, and transportation to and from the trailhead. Meals during the trek are at your own expense, giving you the flexibility to choose from available local menus at teahouses along the route.
