Embark on a short and easy trek from Kathmandu to Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, and Namobuddha. Enjoy the views of the Himalayas, rice terraces, and beautiful villages. Interact with the local people and explore their culture, traditions, and way of life.
Start your trek in Nagarkot, the closest famous place to the Kathmandu Valley for sunrise and views of the Himalayan Mountains. The trail offers a magnificent view of the eastern and central Himalayas, with a height drop of 600 meters from Nagkot (2100 meters) to Dhulikhel (1500 meters).
From this viewpoint, you can see distant views of peaks like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Gaurishankar Himal, and Dorje Lalpa. Before reaching Dhulikhel, you can enjoy the fresh mountain air inside the pine forest and villages.
The beautiful settlement of Dhulikhel is famous for its local Newar culture and Hindu temples. On the way from Dhulikhel to Namobuddha, see the lifestyle of the Nepalese people and their diverse culture and traditions as it is an open museum for trekkers.
Namobuddha, located between Banepa and Panauti, is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site with a magnificent monastery. The wonderful village of Namo Buddha is one of the most sacred places of Buddhist pilgrimage, and people believe it is a perfect place to study Buddhism and meditation.
The monastery is located at the top of a hill that offers 360-degree views of the valley below which makes it a popular trip for tourists. This newly built monastery is a masterpiece of architecture. Colorful prayer flags, pilgrims around the monastery, and carved stone slabs look very beautiful.
Outline itinerary
Day 01: Drive Kathmandu to Changu Narayan (an hour) and trek to Nagarkot (4 to 5 hours walk).
Day 02: Nagarkot to Dhulikhel – 6 to 7 hours walk.
Day 03: Dhulikhel to Namobuddha (3 to 4 hours walk) and drive to Kathmandu (2 to 3 hours).
