Day 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - HARPY LODGE
Leaving Cusco very early in the morning in our comfortable bus. Ascending to the high mountain area of Paucartambo. On the way we visit the funerary towers or chullpas of Ninamarca. Then the bus descends through the mysterious cloud forest full of beautiful orchids, heliconias and primitive ferns. Stopping to give you the opportunity to witness the mating ritual of the Peruvian Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola). There are also chances to observe the Amazonian umbrella bird (Cephalopteros Ornatus), trogons (Trogon sp.) and many more. With luck the only South American bear, the Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus). In the afternoon we arrive at the village of Atalaya, where we take our boat 30 minutes down the Alto Madre de Dios River to our typical lodge. Showers and toilets available.
Day 2: HARPY LODGE
After a delicious breakfast in the morning the group organizes to walk to our viewpoint to observe the villages around the river and walk inside the jungle around the Lodge where you can see many species of birds, insects and many other small animals. Night at Lodge. Shared showers and toilets.
Day 3: HARPY LODGE – PARROTS LICK – MACHUHUASI LAKE
Very early in the morning. We take the boat for approximately 25 minutes to the parrots clay lick, where we can see the green parrots and also some birds or small animals. After seeing parrots we will return to Machuhuasi Lake where there are rafts to go a long way around the lake for 2 hours. Where you can see other species of birds such as hoatzin, then we will walk one more hour inside the jungle. Night at Lodge. Shared showers and toilets.
Day 4: HARPY LODGE – ATALAYA – CUSCO
After a delicious breakfast we will return by boat to the port of Atalaya and then take the bus to return to Cusco.
