Walk alongside the crater of the Tajogaite volcano with a local guide. Discover how this new landscape was born after the 2021 eruption. A unique and unforgettable experience.
Discover the Tajogaite volcano, the protagonist of the eruption that transformed La Palma in 2021. We will start at Llano del Jable, a natural viewpoint with spectacular views of the crater and the youngest volcanic landscape in Europe. From there, we will begin a 7 km descent (with a 600 m drop) along the volcanic cone and across recent lava flows. During the tour, a certified local guide will explain the geological, environmental, and social aspects related to the eruption, including real testimonies from those affected. The activity ends at Las Manchas, one of the areas most affected by the event. This excursion is of medium difficulty and is designed for people in good physical condition. It includes transportation from the meeting point to the start of the trail and return at the end. A safe, educational, and deeply moving experience, perfect for those who want to discover the power of nature and the resilience of the island up close.

This activity is not suitable for people with reduced mobility or cardiovascular problems. The route includes sections on uneven volcanic terrain with moderate slopes. The excursion is subject to favorable weather conditions and possible access restrictions by the authorities. In case of cancellation, an alternative date or refund will be offered. It is essential to wear suitable hiking shoes and bring enough water.
In summer, the heat can significantly increase the difficulty of the route. We recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. The minimum recommended age is 4 years old. We recommend booking in advance, as places are limited. Participation in flip-flops, sandals, or inappropriate footwear is not permitted.
The tour guide will be wearing a T-shirt or jacket with the company logo. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes in advance.
