Built in the 14th century, the castle was designed to strengthen the Alcazaba's defensive system and protect Malaga from enemy attacks. It still retains much of its imposing walls and original structure.
During your visit, you can walk the patrol route along the fortified walls, explore guard towers, bastions, and historic courtyards, and visit the interpretation center, where you will learn about the history of the fortress and its strategic role over the centuries.

On foot: from the historic old town, the climb takes about 20-30 minutes. You can reach the castle by taking the picturesque Coracha route, which starts near the Alcazaba, or by going up from Calle Mundo Nuevo.
By bus: Line 35 connects the center of Malaga with Gibralfaro Castle and stops very close to the entrance.
