With over 2,000 years of history, Tarragona brings together remains of the Roman city of Tàrraco (which was once home to the Roman emperor Octavius Augustus), medieval streets, Catalan traditions, architecture, popular festivals, and a very special relationship with the Mediterranean. The tour begins at the Portal del Roser, one of the city's old entrances, and continues through the streets of the Parte Alta, where present-day Tarragona was built on top of the ancient Roman Tarraco. The walk continues to the Cathedral of Santa Tecla to understand how Tarragona has changed over the centuries and how different historical periods have left their marks on the city and even on the same monument.
