The highlight of the tour is a hands-on handmade tea experience at a local tea estate. This activity depends on tea factory availability and is arranged in advance to match the best possible time slot. The tea experience lasts around 2 hours, during which you will learn traditional tea-making techniques directly from local experts. Guests will taste five different varieties of handmade tea and have the unique chance to make tea using their own hands, following authentic local methods.

Upon arrival at the tea estate, guests are welcomed with special traditional local snacks, offering a warm introduction to Sri Lankan hill-country hospitality. These light, locally prepared treats perfectly complement the tea experience and give visitors a genuine taste of local traditions before beginning the hands-on tea-making session.

The tuk-tuk ride to and from the tea estate, including hotel pickup and drop-off, is completed within approximately 1.5 hours, allowing you to enjoy the journey comfortably without rushing. Along the way, the tour includes short stops at beautiful viewpoints and tea fields, where guests can walk through lush plantations, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and take memorable photographs.

Throughout the experience, your local guide shares insights into Sri Lanka’s tea culture, traditional lifestyles, and the history behind handmade tea production. After completing the tea experience and scenic stops, you’ll return to your hotel by tuk-tuk, carrying not just photos but a deeper connection to Ella’s tea heritage.
