Begin your day with a simple bike fitting and a visit to the largest reclining Buddha in Ayutthaya at Wat Lokayasutha. After a historical briefing, start your ride to Wat Phu Khao Thong, known as the Golden Mount. This iconic landmark features a towering white chedi, originally begun by the Burmese during their occupation of Ayutthaya in 1569, left unfinished, and later completed by Thai kings who rebuilt it in a Thai style atop the original Burmese base. The result is a uniquely hybrid structure that literally embodies the conflict between the two kingdoms. It is free to enter, rises approximately 50 meters, and offers the best panoramic views in Ayutthaya from its upper platform.
Continue to Wat Na Phra Men, one of the temples from the Ayutthaya period that still stands from the conflict between two kingdoms. Cycle through the local community, passing ancient temples along the way, and arrive at Wat Mae Nang Pluem, an active temple originally built during the Ayutthaya period and restored over the centuries.
Cycle through the lively Hua Ro Market, where local residents shop for fresh produce and daily necessities, before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Wat Mahathat, home to the iconic Buddha head entwined within tree roots.
Ride through the Historical Park to the former Royal Palace area, adjacent to Wat Phra Si Sanphet, where you stop outside for photos and historical explanation before continuing to the Reclining Buddha at Wat Lokayasutharam.
