Coffee and Cocoa Tour in Minca!

We will stop by your hotel to take a 40-minute drive to Minca, ecological capital of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a magical place, surrounded by mountains and lots of nature, reaching a height of 600 meters above sea level in its urban area.

First, there is an introduction to this tour and the presentation of the morning guide. We will walk 20 minutes to a 4-hectare coffee farm, owned by a local family, there will be a talk about the history of coffee in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, types of coffee in Colombia, how coffee is harvested, the importance of good fermentation, drying, roasting and how to prepare a good coffee.

We will continue with a walk along ecological trails where we will visit waterfalls, pools and natural slides.  The distance is 4KM. This part of the tour can be accommodated to the physical condition and resistance of the participants.
After bathing in the river, you will walk through beautiful trails and the destination will be a house built in guadua where the host will wait for you with a gourmet lunch which will be prepared according to the clients' specifications.
After lunch, said guadua or bamboo construction will be shown and a talk will be given about this precious Colombian native plant called natural steel, aspects such as: characteristics, resistance, cultivation, cutting and types of constructions will be discussed.
Colombia is a biodiverse country, topics such as more dangerous animals and how to avoid them.

And finally there will be a workshop on cocoa, here topics such as History of Cocoa, collection, fermentation, drying, roasting, preparation to raise the alkaloid to the maximum, health benefits and we will make a cocoa energy bar will be discussed.

The tour starts at 8:45am from your hotel in Santa Marta and 
The tour will end at 3:30 pm. Bring trekking boots, a swimsuit, insect repellent and a towel. Includes transportation to and from Santa Marta, entrance fees to the farms and waterfalls, gourmet lunch, and coffee and chocolate tastings.

The sites we visit are within the forest and we necessarily have a local guide to accompany you.

Once in Santa Marta we will leave them in the same place where we picked them up; end of services.
