Sailing Magdalena Island: An Encounter with Magellanic Penguins

On this fascinating excursion, you will have the opportunity to meet the charming Magellanic penguin, a species that measures between 50 and 70 cm, is an exceptional swimmer and spends most of its life in the water. These penguins live from Tierra del Fuego to southern Brazil, with numerous colonies in Patagonia. Among them, the impressive colony on Magdalena Island stands out, where more than 150,000 penguins gather every season.

Our adventure begins by boarding a comfortable ferry equipped with a large upper deck to enjoy the scenery. The navigation, which lasts approximately two hours, will take us through the iconic Strait of Magellan until we reach Magdalena Island.

Upon arrival at the island's dock, we will disembark for a guided visit of about one hour. During this tour, we will walk among the penguins, observing their behavior in their natural habitat. We will ascend to the old lighthouse, from where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the landscape.

After this unforgettable experience, we will return to the pier in Punta Arenas. Passengers who have purchased the excursion with transfer will be taken directly to their hotel in the city. Other passengers will be dropped off at the Tres Puentes Pier.

Important: This activity is subject to weather conditions. Therefore, we recommend not scheduling it for the last day of your visit to Patagonia, in order to have flexibility in case it has to be rescheduled due to weather conditions.
